BYPRODUCT is a Montreal based jazz trio dedicated to performing new compositions by its members as well as new arrangements of well-known jazz pieces. The name BYPRODUCT is a reflection of the many musical styles that have influenced each member and their compositions. Their goal as a group is to work with acoustic instruments in a traditional jazz setting while combining elements of rock, electronic, and free music to create an original band sound.

The members of BYPRODUCT are: Jim Doxas (drums), Chester Doxas (Reeds and Electronics), and Zack Lober (double bass). All three members are graduates of the Lindsay Place High School music department run by Mr. George Doxas. It was there that Zack first met and began what is now a 12-year relationship with Jim and Chester. During their studies in the jazz performance program at McGill University, the members of BYPRODUCT worked to refine their sound with weekly performances on Wednesday nights at local Montreal hot spot, Bistro Duluth. Since the release of their self-titled debut in December 2002, the group has received critical acclaim from such publications as: All About Jazz, La Presse (Alain Brunet), The Toronto Star (Geoff Chapman), Exclaim! Magazine, The Montreal Mirror (Len Dobbin), and The Hour (Mike Chamberlain). The group was also profiled on Canada’s national radio station: CBC Radio One. Currently the group is booking performances to promote their disc with distribution from Fusion III.

Le trio jazz BYPRODUCT, est un groupe montréalais qui se spécialise dans la performance de nouvelle musique écrite par ses membres et aux arrangements modernes du répertoire classique du jazz. Le nom BYPRODUCT est une réflexion de la variété des influences musicales qui ont inspiré chaque membre du groupe dans leurs performances et dans leurs compositions. Le but du groupe est de travailler avec des instruments acoustiques dans un contexte traditionnellement associé avec le jazz en ajoutant des éléments de musique actuelle, rock, et électronique pour créer un son original.

Les membres du groupe BYPRODUCT sont : Jim Doxas (batterie et percussion), Chester Doxas (saxophones et électroniques), et Zack Lober (contrebasse). Les membres se connaissent depuis douze ans. Ils ont commencé leurs études dans le programme musique à l’école secondaire Lindsay Place enseignée par le professeur George Doxas. Leur association musicale a continué durant leurs études dans le programme de Performance Jazz à L’Université McGill. Durant cette période, le groupe a eu l’opportunité de raffiner leur son en jouant chaque mercredi soir chez Bistro Duluth. Avec le lancement de leur premier disque, le groupe a reçu des critiques favorables par des publications comme : All About Jazz, La Presse (Alain Brunet), The Toronto Star (Geoff Chapman), Exclaim! Magazine, The Montreal Mirror (Len Dobbin), et The Hour (Mike Chamberlain). Le trio a aussi participé à une entrevue sur les ondes de Radio Canada 1. Présentement, le groupe se prépare des performances pour la promotion de leur disque avec distribution par Fusion III.
